Ek Mehmaan Ka Intezaar

The thought or idea for this poem came to me while I was walking under my umbrella on a rainy evening. At that moment, I wished that someone was there with me, walking by my side under the light drizzle. That’s how I came up with the first stanza, and then the rest followed naturally. Unfortunately, this poem follows the same theme as my other poems: waiting for that someone special to come into my life and make it a bit easier.

Baarish hone pe apni chatri ke neeche yun chalta hoon ke ek baalish jagah reh jaaye

Gar woh bheegi si aaye tau kisi aur ki chatri ke neeche na chali jaaye

Ab tau aaina bhi lagadia hai apne kamre ki singhaar mez par

Kisi roz tau uska aks jhalkega jab woh khari hogi ban sawar kar

Naye bartan khareed ke bawarchi khaane main rakhne laga hoon

Woh kabhi mehmaan banke aai tau sharminda na hoon

Lobaan ko jala tau dia hai par woh mehekne se inkaar karta hai

Woh bhi mere mehboob ke qadmo ki khusboo ka intezar karta hai

Aaj kal rokne laga hoon gunah karne se apne aap ko

Dur rakhna chahta hoon us pakeezah se apne har ek paap ko

Us andekhi pari ke liye ek taweel zakheera-e-alfaz sambhaal ke rakhi hai

Yeh nazam bhi tau unhi ko sunane ke liye likhi hai
