Why Did You Step Into My Life?

In this poem I am talking about the people who come into your life uninvited and then they become such a strong part of you that when they leave one day you feel completely shattered. After they leave, you end up waiting for someone else to come and fill that void.

Laying down in a solemn night
Pondering over a restless thought
Why did you step into my life?
I still revisit the day we first met
I swooned over you blindly
Ignored all the red flags and went ahead
My heart skipped beats in your presence
But it stopped when you were away
Manipulation was your sole essence
I walked on eggshells around you
Did everything I could to see you smile
In retrospect, where did that lead me to?
I came in with wings for us to fly
You brought in a storm with your rage
And left my unheard feelings to die
I called it quits with a tantrum
Hoping to cleanse myself of you
But my heart was playing dumb
The blinds have sliced the sunlight
I am still lost in the mystery
Why did you step into my life?
Now I wait for the one
Who will free me of this torment
And treat me as her only one
